The RSP switch series support the new IEC-Standard Redundancy Protocols (PRP, HSR). These new techniques, PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) and HSR (High-availability Seamless Redundancy), are based on the international IEC62439 standard and therefore guarantee future security and interoperability. Networks can now be built for the first time with genuinely uninterrupted data communication. Precision time synchronization in accordance with IEEE 1588v2, synchronizes sensors, drives and measuring equipment.

The RSP switches from Hirschmann, with robust hardware and a powerful operating system, are able to withstand extremely harsh environmental conditions. With HiOS is a new operating system available that will set a new benchmark in the automation sector and further extend the range of applications for the Industrial Ethernet switches. Intelligent infrastructures can now also be used in time-critical applications that were previously exclusively a "hard-wired" domain, i.e. with point-to-point connections. 

In addition to numerous management and diagnostic options, HiOS provides precise time synchronization compliant with IEEE 1588v2 plus a variety of redundancy protocols. Comprehensive security mechanisms protect your network against attacks and operating errors, so also contributing to high network availability.
